The waves break over my head,
And takes my breath away;
Me thinks that I am probably dead,
For it keeps my heart at bay.
The sun grows ever dark and dim,
As clouds swallow the light;
And my mind wanders to thoughts of him,
Now there is not fight.
He takes my hand and touch it speaks,
What words would say in vain;
I close my eyes, my feet hit sand,
He freed my heart from chain.
The freedom shines a golden hue,
Over one so meek and weary;
And on the grass that wears fresh dew,
Is where we choose to tarry.
The wind stirs my thoughts so quietly,
His heart beats a steady meter;
Emotions play out time so silently
And nothing can be sweeter.
